The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) has issued a formal notice clarifying that all virtual asset activities, including purchasing, trading, exchanging, storing, and offering financial services for digital representations of value, remain prohibited unless explicitly authorized by the NBE.
The central bank advises the public to refrain from these activities due to associated legal, operational, and financial risks.
